The Queen’s Peace Fountain-(7)

The Queen’s Peace Fountain-Andrews Park-Southampton

Achieved on 29th July 2001 after the public were  invited to  give their support between- 1990 -2001. Sponsored by the City of Southampton Society. Thanks to public support £67,000  were contributed towards  the Fountain’s costs. The balance from the Heritage Lottery Fund. Adding sparkle to our City.    The Fountain is an appreciation of HM. The Queen’s services to our Nation.  It is located at the head of the main north/south pathway near Richard Andrews’ statue. It is a joy to see.. do visit it. “Fountains; I doubt if I ever saw  one, even the smallest, without some tingling of delight.  They enchant me in the daytime, when the sunlight enables their jets and sprays and turns  their scattered drops into diamonds”.  (J.B.Priestley’s “Delight”-1949 ).
